Native to northwestern mountains of Madagascar, The
Teddy Bear Palm is one of the most beautiful palms of
Madagascar but still grows well in Southern California.

The "Teddy Bear" palm looks somewhat closer to the
Archontophoenix (King Palm) family, with a lot more
drought tolerance once established. The crownshaft
is covered in dense reddish brown velvet like hair. It
produces a pure white ringed trunk with a tomentum
that is covered with a thick reddish-brown fuzzy
substance.

The Teddy Bear has long pinnate (feather shape), dark
green leaves up to 10' long with gorgeous drooping
leaflets. These palms are a medium sized palm and
should reach a maximum height 20-30 feet, and they
can be grown indoors as a juvenile.

This palm has become more popular in Southern
California landscapes in recent years but it's still
relatively rare.

Some of our Teddy's already have the white waxy trunk
showing and will truly be an eye-catcher immediately
upon planting.
